PEST Analysis
The PEST Analysis is one strategy to analyze the macro-environment in which your company operates. In concept, the PEST Analysis is very similar to Porter's Five Forces and to the SWOT analysis.
The PEST Analysis includes 4 different perspectives:
- Political Analysis - It includes the trading agreements, taxation and economic policies, political stability, among others.
- Economic Analysis - It includes the employment levels, GDP, economic trends, interest rates, among others.
- Social Analysis - It includes demographic factors, cultural and religious factors, religion, among others.
- Technological Analysis - It includes the effects of technology on marketing and distribution, the manufacturing cost and the quality of products, innovation, among others.
