Critical to Customer (CTC)
The Critical to Customer (CTC) is one of the inputs of the Quality Function Deployment activity. Make sure that you don't confuse it with the CTQ. The CTQ's (Critical To Quality) are the internal quality parameters that relate to the critical parameters of the customers.
The Quality Function Deployment will then relate both. The results will be displayed in a DFMEA, where you'll be able to see the frequency of the occurrences of failure.
For example, while the sound of a car door closing may be a CTC, the cushioning and dimensional tolerances that produce that sound are CTQs for the automaker.
